My Story: the day that made the difference
mommyandsara.jpg

It happened in a flash: as a parent, wife and entrepreneur I, Terri Nimmons, am accustomed to change, change, change. Yet - one day changed everything in my life in a profound and surprising way.

In a flash, really. You know, as in, "Hey, big guy! Take a look at these A-cups!!" After 13 years of marriage, I'm trying to keep things fresh and spontaneous.
So, one Sunday in June 2007, in our kitchen, I flashed my husband. Unbelievably, he noticed a little pucker...a crease...near my left aureola. In doing so, he probably saved my life.

A pucker? Not good! I knew this because my younger sister had died of breast cancer 13 years earlier.  I'm very familiar with "the signs."

In a flash, we were down the rabbit hole of diagnosis, treatment, recovery. With family and friends loving me and guiding me, I'm entering the "new normal" we in the BC community sometimes talk about.  Part of my new normal is getting my leadership consulting business back on track.
By getting back to  my work, with leaders from all over, I feel I'm taking back a key part of my life.

Like many who have faced a serious illness, I'm looking to give back. Working with leaders is my passion and my profession, so it's a logical place for me start. Since coming back to work, I've had many conversations with professional women who have breast cancer or are close to a colleague who has. I created L2L in suuport of the unique needs of such leaders.

L2L is devoted to all those who may find information and support from it. Let's learn from one another! We hope you'll find L2L helpful and
we hope you'll share your own experience and perspectives as women and leaders!
